One of the last images I captured of our cabin on Hunting Island!

This is one of the last images I captured of our cabin on Hunting Island, taken in 2007. You can see a lot of beach here separating the cabin from the ocean. My grandfather built this cabin when my dad was a little boy. There is old 8mm movie film showing my dad as a boy crossing the road, where this picture was taken, climbing large dunes as high as the house, then off to the beach. When I was a boy, the road was still there yet unused, and a path through the dunes to the beach. I remember growing up laying under the ceiling fan in the summer with no air conditioning with the windows wide open. There was no breeze because the dunes blocked the breeze from the house. You can see here there are no dunes, so we enjoyed the breeze from the ocean during the last few years before we tore it down. The last night I stayed here in 2008, the ocean was under the deck piers and you could feel the cabin shift. It was a rustic cabin, but it was an awesome getaway for the family! I still wish it was here for Rosebud, George, and Henry to enjoy experiencing the lowcountry culture including the deer that would walk right up to you. #DreamingOfBeaufort #HuntingIsland #Canon #20D
