This is pure happiness during a trip to Skateland USA! Rosebud photobombed the picture after a few minutes of begging her to join Miles and I for a a selfie. Skateland USA in Anderson was opened in 1981 and still looks like 1981 on the inside. I remember going there as a kid for church trips and school trips!
There is something special about capturing that special bond between a great-grandmother and her great-granddaughter, rocking on the front porch.
If you have not met Dr. Jonda McNair from Clemson University, you are missing an opportunity to truly learn about African America Children’s Literature. This past Thursday evening, we were invited to hear Dr. McNair read a few children’s books written by well known African American Children’s Literature authors, an experience that was so much more than being exposed to great books. We were among twenty families from the community invited to the Anderson County Library, one of only two white families in attendance.
I was watching Vice Does America tonight and episode three focused on touring parts of the midwest. There was a section where they visited the Lakota Reservation in Rosebud, South Dakota; a place where the activist from the Great Sioux Nation are peacefully protesting the expansion of the Keystone XL pipeline.
We have pretty much known each other since Morrison Elementary School, some even moved to Clemson during RC Edwards Junior High. I haven’t seen some if these guys in 15 years, but when we got back together this weekend…we picked right back where we left off! #family #clemsonfamily
