Rough nights are tough…tough because you just want to sleep. #TwinsLife

Rough nights are tough…tough because you just want to sleep. I know I should not be complaining about lack of sleep, I have had close to eight months to store up some good sleep for these long, rough nights. The hardest part of the long, rough nights are remembering the twins development does not match when they were born. They were born around seven weeks early, so even though we are getting close to eleven weeks old; they are still probably four to six weeks old. Many clinical experts say that babies are considered premature before 37 weeks, so if we follow this barometer…they are just over six weeks old gestational, maybe? Who knows…there are so many experts! We know that they start stretching their sleeping habits around twelve weeks and start self-southing around sixteen weeks. But the math gets confusing in the middle of the night. You are rocking, walking, and hoping they might sleep better the next night. You start doing nighttime math in your head where the numbers you count from the day they are born do not match your experience at that very moment. You second guess yourself with formula, where they are sleeping, if we are doing something wrong; but you are reminded after a few hours of sleep (and some coffee) that they are only four to six weeks old. You are also reminded they are twins. I know it gets better…but I am thankful for all those people who come to give us (especially Sarah) a few hours of sleep to keep us going. Thank you to Nana, Mom, Jennifer, Tom, Ellen, Christine, and so many others that have brought us dinner, taken Rosebud for a play date, stopped by to provide support. We love our village! #Canon #5Dkiii #TwinsLife #Rettew5 #CameraPapa #CameraMama
