There is something special about capturing that special bond between a great-grandmother and her great-granddaughter, rocking on the front porch.
If you have not met Dr. Jonda McNair from Clemson University, you are missing an opportunity to truly learn about African America Children’s Literature. This past Thursday evening, we were invited to hear Dr. McNair read a few children’s books written by well known African American Children’s Literature authors, an experience that was so much more than being exposed to great books. We were among twenty families from the community invited to the Anderson County Library, one of only two white families in attendance.
Today was an unbelievable day…I have met many women in my life that have inspired me; and Ashley Hall moves to the top of the list. I think of my mother who sacrificed so much when she was going to Clemson getting her Nursing BSN while Jennifer and I were in high school and junior high. There is something about a determined mother that will do anything to make life better for herself and her children.
We have pretty much known each other since Morrison Elementary School, some even moved to Clemson during RC Edwards Junior High. I haven’t seen some if these guys in 15 years, but when we got back together this weekend…we picked right back where we left off! #family #clemsonfamily
