I have a huge heart for nursing. #TwinsLife #NICU

First of all…I have a huge heart for nursing. My mom and sister are nurses. This image brings me joy, peace, and gratitude to the many nurses who have and are still providing the very best care to George and Henry. Nurse Lynn was giving George a bath and the way she held him, looked at him, cared for him; showcases the amount of care she brings to each child in the NICU. As I read the website for the Bryan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Greenville Children’s Hospital…I read about the team of experts. Dr. Stewart, Dr. Halliday, and the many physicians have been so wonderful to our family. But I wanted to read about the nurses in the NICU. These nurses give so much of their time, energy, expertise, and daily care for each of the children. We have built special bonds with these nurses. They leave little notes on the boards next to their weights each day. They take time to teach us how to correctly give George and Henry a bottle, give them a bath, change their clothes with so many cords connected, read the monitors that show all the important vitals, and give us hugs when we are discouraged. These nurses bring comfort to Sarah and I as we leave our children each night to sleep 30 miles away. I am thankful to the nurses like Lynn. She represents the heart beat of the NICU, and I truly thankful for the care she provides! #TwinsLife #NICU #Canon #5Dmkiii #yeahthatgreenville

Nurse-Family Partnership is more than a job, it’s a calling

Nursing is more than a job…it is a passion. I fully understand this statement first hand, I am a product of a nurse’s salary growing up. I remember my mother as a nurse from the moment I could tie my shoes, she taught me right from wrong from a nurse’s lens.

My mom is now a Nurse Practitioner who put herself through school while I was in high school. She graduated with her BSN two years before I graduated from high school. She put herself through graduate school and then put me through graduate school. Nursing is a part of my DNA.
