My mom…I do not have the right words to express my love for my mom. #mothersday

My mom…I do not have the right words to express my love for my mom. She taught me the value of hard work, determination, importance of education, and most of all…the gift of family. She helped me get ready for Clemson as she was taking 22 hours each semester to finish her BSN in Nursing. I remember many nights in high school waking up and coming downstairs for a drink of water…she had fallen asleep with a book in her lap studying. She was up the next morning ready to tackle the day, get us off to school, then she was off to her part-time nursing job while taking a full load at Clemson. She finished in 3 years. She began volunteering for Clemson Football as a nurse, because she felt she owed so much to Clemson Athletics for providing me a full scholarship. She would work full time at GHS then head to Clemson to take care of the football players after practice. She is still volunteering today, taking care of hundreds of Clemson Football players, all of which still call her for a flu shot. She loved those boys like her own! I remember her in her second year of graduate school working on her MSN in Nursing when I started my first year of graduate school. We studied together as she put herself through grad school, holding a full time job, and helping me finish my Masters as well. We have traveled together all over the world, from Arizona to Rome Italy. She has been my rock, inspiring to dedicate my talents to the health care field. I may not be able to diagnose or write a prescription…but she has taught me the value of caring for every patient like they are your own. As a member of Tiger Brotherhood, I have nominated my mother numerous times for Tiger Brotherhood Mother of the Year. She has given so much to Clemson; from taking care of the numerous football players, the hundreds of students away from home through her commitment to Clemson First Baptist, to the numerous house calls she made to people needing medical help in Clemson and across the upstate, to loving both Jennifer and I through our many crazy ventures. She will always be my Mother of the Year! #mothersday
