I have a huge heart for nursing. #TwinsLife #NICU

First of all…I have a huge heart for nursing. My mom and sister are nurses. This image brings me joy, peace, and gratitude to the many nurses who have and are still providing the very best care to George and Henry. Nurse Lynn was giving George a bath and the way she held him, looked at him, cared for him; showcases the amount of care she brings to each child in the NICU. As I read the website for the Bryan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Greenville Children’s Hospital…I read about the team of experts. Dr. Stewart, Dr. Halliday, and the many physicians have been so wonderful to our family. But I wanted to read about the nurses in the NICU. These nurses give so much of their time, energy, expertise, and daily care for each of the children. We have built special bonds with these nurses. They leave little notes on the boards next to their weights each day. They take time to teach us how to correctly give George and Henry a bottle, give them a bath, change their clothes with so many cords connected, read the monitors that show all the important vitals, and give us hugs when we are discouraged. These nurses bring comfort to Sarah and I as we leave our children each night to sleep 30 miles away. I am thankful to the nurses like Lynn. She represents the heart beat of the NICU, and I truly thankful for the care she provides! #TwinsLife #NICU #Canon #5Dmkiii #yeahthatgreenville

It takes a village…it truly takes a village. #twinslife #nicu

It takes a village…it truly takes a village. I am sitting here completely overwhelmed and overjoyed. First of all, on this Father’s Day…I was able to have the whole family in one place. We were able to take Rosebud to the NICU and spend time with the twins. Even though we had only fifteen minutes in the room with Rose, it was the most precious fifteen minutes I can remember. After leaving the hospital, I began to think about the day, the week, and really the past fifteen days. It has been a whirlwind to say the least. There are so many people that use the saying, it takes a village…I am now a true believer. Friends have been so generous providing gas cards for us given we will be making daily trips to Greenville Memorial Hospital, sometimes twice a day. I have received numerous notes, emails, Facebook messages, correspondences from friends that are close by and far away. Sarah and I are completely overwhelmed with the generosity and do not even know where to begin saying thank you. The village has provided so much for us including Rosebud. She will be spending time with her favorite people this week, people who are a part of the village. Each person knows Rosebud’s complexities, her intricacies, her special need to connect with familiar souls. It takes a special village to understand the inner being of a family. A village is bigger than a group of people committed to help a family in need. A village is a community of people that are not only committed to the well being of that family, but also committed to providing a safe space with love, refuge, and direction. We have found our village and they have provided. There are so many people to thank and we do not know where to begin. This journey has just begun and the village keeps on providing. If I see you, I might hug you…because I am so thankful to all those people who have chosen to be a part of our lives and help us build and amazing village! #twinslife #nicu #canon #5dmkiii

It has been another wonderful trip to Cange, Haiti!

It has been another wonderful trip to Cange, Haiti and once again…the children drew my attention. Everywhere I looked, children were smiling and happy. As I pointed my camera to capture this little girl playing under a table, her shy retreat from showing her smile was proof of the hidden beauty inside this little mountain village. #Canon #5Dmkiii
