This is pure happiness during a trip to Skateland USA! Rosebud photobombed the picture after a few minutes of begging her to join Miles and I for a a selfie. Skateland USA in Anderson was opened in 1981 and still looks like 1981 on the inside. I remember going there as a kid for church trips and school trips!

The craft of telling visual stories differs from other disciplines in that it is forever married to the advancement of technology. If a writer possesses the necessary talent and vision, it makes little difference whether he uses Microsoft Word or a Quill pen and powdered ink. Visual storytelling is different. As technology advances, new horizons are opened up. New tools give us new ways of better constructing the narrative we hope to convey. This being the case, we are always on the lookout, keeping a watchful eye on the digital technology market.
If you have not met Dr. Jonda McNair from Clemson University, you are missing an opportunity to truly learn about African America Children’s Literature. This past Thursday evening, we were invited to hear Dr. McNair read a few children’s books written by well known African American Children’s Literature authors, an experience that was so much more than being exposed to great books. We were among twenty families from the community invited to the Anderson County Library, one of only two white families in attendance.

Today was an unbelievable day…I have met many women in my life that have inspired me; and Ashley Hall moves to the top of the list. I think of my mother who sacrificed so much when she was going to Clemson getting her Nursing BSN while Jennifer and I were in high school and junior high. There is something about a determined mother that will do anything to make life better for herself and her children.
